Get answers to common questions about Micro Braids.
With proper care, Micro Braids can last 6–10 weeks. Factors like hair growth rate, tension, scalp oils, and maintenance routines affect longevity. We recommend gentle cleansing and avoiding heavy buildup; schedule a touch-up or removal when braids loosen.
When installed with correct tension and proper products, Micro Braids are protective. Excessive tightness, prolonged wear without care, or rough removal can cause breakage. We perform gentle installations, advise maintenance, and remove braids safely to minimize risk.
Use a diluted sulfate-free shampoo to cleanse your scalp gently, rinse thoroughly, and apply a light leave-in or oil to moisturize. Dry braids completely to prevent mildew. Sleep with a silk scarf and avoid heavy products that cause buildup.
We advise limiting heat to avoid weakening synthetic or natural extensions. Small heat tools on low settings can be used cautiously on natural hair. Extensions can be integrated during installation—discuss options with your stylist for safe, seamless blending.
Installation time varies by hair density, length, and braid size, typically between 4–8 hours. We schedule longer appointments for dense or very small braids. Arrive with detangled hair and plan to relax—bring entertainment and snacks.
Choose lightweight, sulfate-free cleansers, hydrating leave-ins, and light oils like jojoba or argan to nourish without buildup. Avoid heavy creams and waxes. Use a dry shampoo or cleansing spray between washes, and consult your stylist for recommendations.
